Raising Maths Achievement through targeted intervention. The aim of this project is to intervene with identified students in Years 9 & 10 who have an area of underperformance through PTM data. Support is put in place in the form of Tutoring on a 6 week basis per student. Once the programme progresses the students are then re tested through PTM and the impact of the intervention is measured. The tutoring programme would run beside other interventions set up by the Head of Junior Achievement and the Numeracy Coordinator at Integrated College Dungannon.

Expected Pupil Outcomes

Outcomes would aim to be an improved PTM test score in their area of underperformance.

Expected Student Tutor Outcomes

The Tutor would gain an understanding of the needs of students finding Maths difficult in a post primary setting. Valuable experience would be gained in working with age 12-14 year olds, and building positive relationships and mentoring skills.

Extra Information

The Tutor would work with a group of 10 students for six weeks and then the PTM test wold be carried out. A new group of 10 students would then be assigned. Interaction for each tutor would be 30 students over the course of the programme.
